Spring Program

P3R Youth Running seeks to create a lifelong love of fitness in children by establishing a level of physical literacy and athletic development, while engaging families and communities.

Kids, through a variety of programming and training options, run 25 training miles and then complete the Kids Marathon during Pittsburgh Marathon Weekend with a 1.2 mile course with 6500 kids from throughout the region! 25+1.2 = 26.2 – the length of a full marathon.


The spring programming season is capped off with one of the biggest kids races in the country: the Chick-fil-A Pittsburgh Kids Marathon on May 4, 2019. Every registered child receives: 

  •  a free adult entry for a grown up to run with them
  • a true race experience with runner swag: race shirt, finisher medal, goody bag, and entry to the post-race festival
  • the satisfaction that comes from setting and achieving a goal

 

Running as a team:

  • Kids of Steel resources can be used as part of a PE class, after school program, or a virtual run club.
  • The style you choose is up to what works best for your community. We recommend an event to launch your team like a food tasting, family fitness nights, group runs, or PE Pop Up Class! P3R can help!
  • Keep your team motivated with coach emails to support your training and fun incentives!
  • P3R manages race registrations and will provide you updates.

 

Training as family:

  • Register for the race of your choice.
  • Training plan and mileage log will be sent to you by email.
