P3R is proud to partner with the United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania's fitUnited
initiative and other community partners to improve outdoor play spaces along the DICK'S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon course.
In 2015, P3R was part of a community team that refurbished Willie Stargell Field in Pittsburgh's Homewood neighborhood. The field is home for Homewood Community Sports, a nonprofit that serves 400 children through a variety of sports teams.
During the United Way’s ‘Day of Action’ on June 20th, 2015, more than 100 volunteers and city employees worked together to improve the field. Some of the projects included reseeding the baseball fields, painting railings and the ‘Homewood Bulldogs’ mural, renovating the concession stand, and repairing bleachers.
P3R is proud to give back and support communities along the DICK’S Sporting Goods Pittsburgh Marathon course. Neighborhoods like Homewood contribute to the success and appeal of our race. In 2013, runners voted Homewood as the best neighborhood to run through during the race.
Additional partners for this special project included the City of Pittsburgh Department of Public Works, Pirates Charities, Homewood Community Sports and Homewood Children’s Village.
